Camelbak® Announces inaugural collegiate cycling grant winners
Five Collegiate Teams Win $5,000 Scholarships to Fund Race Schedule
PETALUMA, Calif. (November 21, 2016) – This year, more than 4,700 college students will take to roads, mountains and tracks across the country to race as part of collegiate cycling teams. In support of these riders, CamelBak® is proud to announce the recipients of its inaugural collegiate cycling grant program. After receiving more than 60 entry videos demonstrating teams’ “Got Your Bak” spirit, CamelBak has selected Colorado College, Milligan College, United States Naval Academy, Texas A&M University and University of Texas as the winners for 2016.
Each winning team will receive a $5,000 grant to help get their team successfully over the finish line this season. In addition to the grant, CamelBak hosted the winning teams to its headquarters in Petaluma for a Collegiate Rider Summit and will co-design a set of custom Podium bottles for each team.
“As we looked around within the cycling community, we realized that these college teams are true heroes to the sport,” said Shannon Stearns, CamelBak Vice President of Marketing. “These riders successfully balance their academics with practice schedules, team fund raising and busy race seasons. We know how hard they work and we are proud to have their backs.”
As a thank you to all teams who applied for the grant, each team who submitted a video and application will receive a complimentary case of CamelBak podium bottles to keep their team hydrated.
